Ladies & Gentleman, throughout the course of its ten year
history HOMEBAKE has built a reputation for showcasing
a uniquely diverse range of the finest contemporary musical talent
Australia has to offer. From its origins in a muddy, rain soaked
paddock in Byron Bay in 1995 HOMEBAKE has steadily grown
from being a music festival distinguished for its commitment to
giving new Australian acts a chance, into a well known local music
lovers ritual, and now into nothing less than a national Australian
music institution with a unique reputation for cultivating the
very best Australian musical talent on offer.
The impact of HOMEBAKE’s ten years of festival existence
on the Australian music scene cannot be underestimated or denied.
Some of today’s most legendary homegrown talent such as
Grinspoon, Powderfinger, You Am I, Something for Kate, The John
Butler Trio , Regurgitator (and many more) have all been the recipients
of ‘first big festival breaks’ courtesy of their appearances
on previous HOMEBAKE bills. Despite the reminiscing, we’re
once again back to announce that our special tenth birthday celebration
will prove to be our finest effort yet. HOMEBAKE 2004 returns
in full celebratory mode for it’s biggest, boldest, and
not forgetting broadest, display of this country’s hottest
established acts and new emerging artists.
The theme for this very special tenth anniversary of HOMEBAKE
is a celebration of the ‘past, present and future’
– and what better way to acknowledge three condensed eras
than to build on our tradition of assembling a wide array of different
musical genres and performers representing them. Thus, HOMEBAKE
2004 – The Tenth Anniversary Edition will be presenting
the finest in pop, rock, punk, dance, electronica, country and
more via a selection of talented artists from the past, present
and future, all of which appeal to its ever growing demographic.
As well, HOMEBAKE 2004 will, of course, be providing punters
with a treasure trove of extra activities and events to wow the
senses and seize the imagination. And not forgetting our roots,
we’ll maintain our long held commitment to bringing some
of the hottest, emerging Aussie bands to national attention via
our renowned Hopetoun Stage. HOMEBAKE is the one huge festival
event to see out the year, and once again we are proud to announce
that it will take place in the exquisite and iconic surrounds
of The Domain (within the Royal Botanical Gardens) Sydney City
on Saturday December 4 2004.
Presented by Triple J, Channel V & Drum Media, it's a huge
start to a tenth anniversary line-up – our first sixteen
big names announced with many more to come totaling some fifty
combined artist and DJs. HOMEBAKE 2004 – The Tenth
Anniversary is destined to be one of the most exciting & finest
music festivals of the summer period and will also feature a variety
of extra activities and features including The HOMEBAKE
Cinema Tent, our famous international food fare, a plethora of
market and information stalls, roving performers, surprises &
much, much more. It’s a full day packed to the brim with
the hottest musical talent Australia has to offer.
So without further ado, we here at HOMEBAKE headquarters
have, as always, spent a lengthy period of time handpicking a
consummate selection of acts – and we are pleased to announce
that some of the country’s most highly acclaimed performers
are lining up to help make our tenth birthday party truly an event
to remember. (Check artist page for full details)
