HOMEBAKE 2006
IT'S A MASSIVE "PARTY IN THE PARK"!

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time to once again announce Australia’s biggest Antipodean all star festival event! With a touch of glamour, pizzazz and chutzpah - as well as a whole lot of the finest musical talent that Australia & New Zealand has to offer, we proudly present version number 12 of the biggest bake of them all, HOMEBAKE '06.

Having played host to a plethora of national and internationally famous local superstars, HOMEBAKE has matured to become one of Australia’s most important and respected festival events, and for this very reason, we are overwhelmingly grateful for the devoted support of the public, media & local industry alike.

Each year HOMEBAKE has focused on particular themes of style. Noting our themes are always based on the continued respect of our most gracious performers, we’ve decided that we really do want to celebrate in 2006. And for this very reason, we want you to put on your party shoes as we return under our 2006 banner, ‘Party In The Park’.

And so, with great pleasure , what better way for us to show our respect than to present one of the greatest (& most awesome) artist line-ups featuring an array stars presenting a variety of styles (pop, rock, dance, punk, hip hop, electronica etc) that will no doubt appeal to the most discerning of fans. With an ever growing demographic, Homebake 2006 ‘stars’ will place emphasis on stage presentation showing the rest of the world that we can deliver the goods just as good (if not better) than international counterparts.

Whilst we prepare to transform Sydney’s iconic Domain in to a block rockin’ show stoppin’ multi stage extravaganza of international standard, we can’t even begin to describe our collective excitement as we announce the very first batch of our musical megastars (including a few surprises sure to raise an eyebrow or ten).

So, read on carefully and start preparing plans to join us as we once again pay homage to the success of our local entertainment industry. (Check artist page for full details) Each and every year The HOMEBAKE Festival embraces a charity and this year we will be highlighting the work of Youth Off The Streets - an organisation which supports chronically homeless and drug addicted young Australians as they work to turn their lives around. It is their goal that these young people leave their care drug free, with a high school education, living skills and a full or part time job in hand. Based on the philosophy that every young person has greatness within, these programs are non-denominational and non-discriminatory. The proceeds of this year’s HOMEBAKE artists signing tent will go to Youth Off The Streets, for more info go to www.youthoffthestreets.com.au

This year, HOMEBAKE also focuses its attention on the forthcoming Australian release of the shocking movie, Invisible Children. Can a story change the world? In the spring of 2003, three young Americans traveled to Africa in search of such a story. What they found was a tragedy that disgusted and inspired them. A story where children are the weapons and the victims. The ‘Invisible Children: Rough Cut’ film exposes the effects of a 20-year-long war on the children of Northern Uganda. Children who live in fear of abduction by rebel soldiers and are being forced to fight as part of a violent army. This wonderfully reckless documentary is fast paced, and is truly unique. To see Africa through young eyes is humorous and heart breaking, quick and informative - all in the same breath. See this film, you will be forever changed.
