HOMEBAKE 2007
Ladies & gentlemen..
Once again comes that time of the year, where Homebake HQ frantically places the finishing touches to an annual announcement reminding one & all that summer is looming and, that it will be the official start to the great Australian music festival period.
And thus, with all the fuss, excitement and usual glamour, Australia's most famous antipodean all star event can possibly muster, we are both beyond elation and incredibly relieved to finally announce our very special 13th anniversary being..
HOMEBAKE 07 - It's The Ladies Domain!
Over the years, Homebake has played host to a plethora of national and internationally famous local superstars, and has now matured to become one of Australia's most important and respected festival events, and for this very reason, we are always grateful for the devoted support of the public, media & local industry alike.
Each year, HOMEBAKE has focused on particular themes of style - and, as our themes are always based on the continued respect of our most gracious performers, we've realised that it's about time we honour the ladies of our entertainment industry hence our 2007 theme 'It's The Ladies Domain'!
Albeit that it would be impossible for us to focus entirely on the women of rock, Homebake 07 will feature (& play host to) many female participant acts as well as include the use of multimedia to honour the many ladies of our entertainment industry. So folks, we have a confession to make...& it's a confession that has even astounded all of us here at Homebake HQ.
For the first time ever within all 13 versions of Homebake we can finally announce that our show finale will be performed by a female fronted act. And, may we add, not just any act ...in fact, statistically & historically, Australia's biggest internationally charting female fronted band ever!
And so, with great pleasure, what better way for us to show our respect to the bands with the ladies (& those that don't!) than to present one of the greatest (& most awesome) antipodean artist line-ups featuring an array stars all presenting a variety of styles (pop, rock, dance, punk, hip hop, electronica etc) that will no doubt appeal to the most discerning of fans.
With an ever growing demographic, Homebake 2007 'stars' will place emphasis on stage presentation showing the rest of the world that we can deliver the goods just as good (if not better) than international counterparts. So, read on carefully and start preparing plans to join us as we once again pay homage to the success of our local entertainment industry - and in particular the ladies. (Check artist page for full details).
Each and every year The HOMEBAKE Festival embraces a number of charities & causes and this year we will be highlighting the work of Mission Australia. Mission Australia is one of the country's leading charities and community organisations, with a focus on helping young people and families in need, homeless people, and those looking for a sustainable job or needing training.
Mission Australia has more than 330 services across metropolitan, rural and regional Australia - in every State and Territory - which last year assisted 250,000 people. Mission Australia's CEO, Toby Hall, said the charity was extremely proud to be Homebake's 'cause' for 2007. "It's a perfect fit for us. As one of Australia's leading providers of support to young people in need, we're very excited about partnering with the country's biggest and best celebration of home-grown music and youth culture" said Toby. "Mission Australia offers a range of services to young people who are tackling serious issues, including homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, mental illness, domestic violence, family conflict and long-term unemployment. Last year, Mission Australia assisted more than 10,000 young people get back on their feet. We're looking forward to working with Homebake and together raising awareness about - not only the issues facing young Australians - but also some of the solutions."
The proceeds of this year's HOMEBAKE artists signing tent will go to MISSION AUSTRALIA, and Homebake will assist to spread greater awareness for the efforts of this fine cause. For more info go to www.missionaustralia.com
This year, HOMEBAKE also focuses its attention on the organization known as GetUp! It's very exciting to be collaborating with Homebake to help give even more young Australians a real say on the direction of our country - and our globe".
