CLICK HERE FOR FULL HOMEBAKE 2011 CINEMA PAVILION FILM SCHEDULE - JUST RELEASED!
It began in 2001 (having been inspired via Homebake's involvement - and starring attraction - in the Alex Proyas directed feature film, 'Garage Days') and although it's now much bigger & better, we still have to admit that we aren't of the calibre of some of Australia's finest film festivals such as Tropfest! However we here at Homebake HQ now venture in to our tenth year of promoting upcoming producers and directors via our now (in)famous, yet cosy, Cinema Pavilion.
Devoted to exposing the talents of our local young film makers, the Cinema Pavilion is curated & produced by a rather famous writer / director / actor / composer (& all round good guy) known widely in film circles, & also being our friend and film devotee, Kieran Darcy-Smith of the incredibly successful production company BlueTongue Films. 2011 will see Kieran (together with his Bluetonge Film Production cohorts) once again present a stunning array of award winning and nominated feature short films within the newly located Pavilion Building with The Domain. Stay tuned for full programing details.
For those of you not in the know, please read on for a short biography of Kieran's illustrious career.
Kieran has been active both in front of and behind the camera since graduating from drama school in Sydney in 1995. He co-founded Blue-Tongue Films in 1996 and under the Blue-Tongue banner has written, directed, scored and starred in a number of award winning, internationally acclaimed short films and music videos. Kieran’s debut feature film as director and co-writer, ‘WISH YOU WERE HERE’, starring Joel Edgerton, Teresa Palmer and Felicity Price has recently been completed and will be released through Hopscotch Films and Level K during early 2012. (Wish You Were Here was produced by Angie Fielder, for Aquarius Films in association with Blue-Tongue Films.)
In 2008 Kieran was awarded the IF Award for ‘Best Unproduced Screenplay’ for his screenplay ‘Memorial Day’. In 1995 he was awarded the inaugural ‘Australian Writers Guild and NSW Film And Television Office Mentorship Scheme Award’ for his first feature film screenplay ‘Little Sky Cambodia’. As an actor Kieran’s feature film roles include ‘The Reef’ (2010), ‘The Square’ (2008) ‘September’ (2007), ‘The Cave’ (2005), ‘Two Hands’ (1999) and ‘Animal Kingdom’ (2010).
Television roles include ‘Dangerous’ (as series regular ‘Garry’), ‘McLeod’s Daughters’, ‘Blue Heelers’, ‘All Saints’, ‘Water Rats’, ‘Wildside’, ‘Murder Call’, ‘Always Greener’, 'Young Lions’, ‘White Collar Blue’, ‘Going Home’, ‘Rescue: Special Ops’, ‘Stupid, Stupid Man’, ‘Infamous Victory: Ben Chifley’s Battle For Coal’ and the successful ABC series ‘My Place’.
Music videos and photography by Kieran Darcy-Smith have led to collaborations with some of Australia’s top mainstream and independent artists, including: Powderfinger, Alex Lloyd, Kasey Chambers, You Am I, Amiel, Shane Nicholson and Troy Cassar- Daley.
