It's Australia's largest and most famous "locals only" music festival, and in December 2002, it will be celebrating its eighth birthday. Known as the event that features the most prolific Australian artists (as well as a stack of the most exciting up and coming bands), HOMEBAKE has now become a music festival institution providing a massive podium displaying the best this great country of ours has to offer. And in celebration of turning the big EIGHT, HOMEBAKE returns in 2002 for its biggest, boldest and most musically varied presentation of this nations best talent, to date.

As Australia (and the world) becomes more grown up and accepting of even a far greater hybrid of different musical styles, HOMEBAKE 2002 once again opens the musical gates to present the best in pop, rock, punk, ska, dance, electronica, country and DJ's - in fact, just about every style we could think of that would be appropriate to this very fine festival. Catering to a broad demographic and including an array of extra activities that make HOMEBAKE the place to be each year, we are proud to announce that it will once again take place in the auspicious and stunning surrounds of The Domain (within the Royal Botanical Gardens) Sydney City on Saturday December 7th, 2002. What a way to celebrate the end of the year!

As always, the primary focus is on music, and HOMEBAKE 2002 is far bigger and better than previous years with the brand new addition of a fifth stage - being the very funky HOMEBAKE Acoustic Pavilion - which also means a stack of extra performers. Thus, over 55 bands, performers, solo acts and DJ's will be spread across five big stages including the main stage, stage two, the InTheMix Big Top, The Hopetoun Stage (named after Sydney's prestigious Surry Hills venue renowned for its continual support of new and established acts in the local music scene) and, as mentioned, our newest addition, the Acoustic Pavilion stage.

And of course there are always the added extras alongside the music component. The wonderful youth support organisation known as REACH OUT will make available a signing tent whereby punters can get a chance to meet their favourite HOMEBAKE 2002 acts and score a signature or two or simply contribute to this worthy cause by way of offering money to the bucket collectors roaming the ground. An international food fair will rumble your tummy and tickle your nostrils, high impact rides and games will entice you, roving performers will entertain you and an amazing array of market, information and awareness stalls providing a wealth of news regarding youth and community orientated causes. Also this year we are bringing back the successful HOMEBAKE Cinema Tent - which in itself, provides a podium and opportunity to talented and up and coming filmmakers to show their wares. Add to this the amazing feats of the extreme sports team and there won't be a minute to spare at HOMEBAKE 2002.

Last year, HOMEBAKE gave each and everyone of its punters a chance to achieve their 15 seconds of fame with the onsite filming of the highly anticipated movie GARAGE DAYS. Starring Pia Miranda and Kick Curry (both known for their excellent performances in the hit movie Looking For Alibrandi, HOMEBAKE 2002 will be preceded by the National release of this most excellent hit movie - released late September 2002. Make sure to check out HOMEBAKE on the big screen when GARAGE DAYS is released in cinemas nationally in October 3 this year. We'll be giving you the scoop on GARAGE DAYS as we get it.
